Together with Unseen the Mondriaan Fund has invited a group of curators/directors from different countries to participate in this year’s program during the Unseen Photography Fair 2017. The participants will also take part in different panel discussions to be held at the fair.
Anthony Downey (22-24 September)
Academic, editor, and writer

Anthony Downey is Professor of Visual Culture in the Middle East and North Africa within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Media at Birmingham City University. He is the Founding Editor and Editor-in-Chief of Ibraaz  (2010-present); Editor of the book series  Visual Culture in the Middle East, (Sternberg Press); and sits on Editorial Board of Third Text.
Recent and upcoming publications include Don’t Shrink Me to the Size of a Bullet: The Works of Hiwa K (Walther König Books, 2017); Future Imperfect: Contemporary Art Practices and Cultural Institutions in the Middle East (Sternberg Press, 2016); Dissonant Archives: Contemporary Visual Culture and Contested Narratives in the Middle East (I.B. Tauris, 2015); Art and Politics Now  (Thames and Hudson, 2014); Uncommon Grounds: New Media and Critical Practice in North Africa and the Middle East (I.B. Bill Hunt (21-24 September)
Photography: collector, curator and consultant

W.M. – Bill – Hunt is a New York-based champion of photography: collector, curator and consultant.  His collections have been shown in the US and Europe including FOAM.  They are the subject of his books The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the Unconscious and Hunt’s Three Ring Circus: American Groups before 1950.  He contributes to the blog L’Oeil de la Photographie.  He loves to talk about photography and talent, and he does so often wherever he can.  Photography changed his life; it gave him one.
Dr. Rebecca Senf (21-24 September)
Chief Curator at the Center for Creative Photography and Norton Family Curator of Photography, a joint appointment between CCP and Phoenix Art Museum

Her B.A. in Art History is from the University of Arizona; her M.A. and Ph.D. were awarded by Boston University. In Boston she worked on the Museum of Fine Arts’ major exhibition Ansel Adams from The Lane Collection, for which she co-authored the catalogue. In 2012 her book Reconstructing the View: The Grand Canyon Photographs of Mark Klett and Byron Wolfe was released by University of California Press. Her curatorial interests range from contemporary to Modernist American photography, and have been presented in large and small exhibitions, in physical space and online.

Stanley Wolukau-Wanambwa (cancelled)
Photographer, writer, and former editor of the contemporary photography website The Great Leap Sideways (2011—2017).
He has contributed essays to catalogues and monographs by Vanessa Winship, George Georgiou, Marton Perlaki and Paul Graham, been an artist-in-residence at Light Work, guest edited the Aperture Photobook Review, and written for Aperture, FOAM magazine and The Photographer’s Gallery. He has lectured at Yale, Cornell and The New School, is a faculty member in the photography department at Purchase College, SUNY.
