Andrea Viliani is the current director of the Fondazione Donnaregina per le arti contemporanee / Madre-Museo d’arte contemporanea Donnaregina, Napoli, where he organised exhibitions by Thomas Bayrle, Mario García Torres, Giulia Piscitelli, Vettor Pisani, Padraig Timoney, Ettore Spalletti, Francis Alÿs, Walid Raad, produced publications by Akram Zaatari and Gusmao&Paiva and oversaw the ongoing project Per_forming a collection. From 2009 to 2012 he worked as director of the Fondazione Galleria Civica-Centro di Ricerca sulla Contemporaneità in Trento, where he has curated solo shows of Robert Kuśmirowski, Melvin Moti, Gustav Metzger, Roman Ondak, Rosa Barba, Clemens von Wedemeyer, Nedko Solakov, commissioned Lara Favaretto’s public intervention Momentary Monument #3, and organized workshops and co-edited books by Luca Vitone, Otolith Group, Dora García, Tris Vonna-Michell, Gerard Byrne, Tim Rollins and KOS, Alberto Garutti. From 2005 to 2009, Viliani was curator at the MAMbo–Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, where he presented an exhibition program focused on the contemporary legacy of the 1960s/1970s institutional critique and on a possible new approach to it, which he proposed calling “institutional narrative” (exhibitions and projects by, among the others, Ryan Gander, Nico Dockx, Giovanni Anselmo, Jay Chung and Q Takeki Maeda, Christopher Williams, Adam Chodzko, Bojan Sarcevic, Jeroen de Rijke-Willem de Rooij, Natascha Sadr-Haghighian, Guyton\Walker, Trisha Donnelly, Seth Price). From 2000 to 2005 Viliani worked as Assistant Curator at the Castello di Rivoli-Museo d’Arte Contemporanea, Turin. In 2012 Andrea Viliani was one of the six curatorial Agents/Core-Group  of dOCUMENTA(13), co-curating with the Artistic Director, Carolyn Christov Bakargiev, and Aman Mojadidi the related position in Kabul and Bamiyan, Afghanistan. Among the 60 “players” of the 2007 Biennale de Lyon, he is a frequent contributor to the art magazines FROGFlash ArtMousse and Kaleidoscope.
