In 2021, the exhibition in which the Mondriaan Fund presents work by artists who recently received a Stipendium for Emerging Artists will take place. Its title is Prospects. As was the case in 2020, the exhibition will be presented at the Van Nelle Factory during Art Rotterdam. Seventy-five artists will be participating.

Johan Gustavsson will be guest curator, as he was for the 2020 exhibition. Gustavsson is co-director of 1646, The Hague; board member for The Naked and Page Not Found and lecturer at the KABK. His experience with at the last edition will serve him well as he puts together a strong exhibition that must be achieved in the context of the Covid measures. Gustavsson will be supported by the Tom Postma Design studio.

The Mondriaan Fund organizes the Prospects (formerly Prospects & Concepts) exhibition annually in order to provide an extra impulse to the visibility of beginning visual artists. Art Rotterdam gives art professionals and collectors, as well as a broad group of interested individuals and organizations the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the work of these promising artists.

The exhibition is also an excellent opportunity to show what has come about in part thanks to support from the Mondriaan Fund. Stipendium for Emerging Artists can be applied for by artists with a professional practice of up to four years. The grant can be used for anything related to new work, such as research, materials, equipment and projects at home or abroad.

Art Rotterdam 2021 is planned for 4-7 February 2021.
