From 30 October until 12 November 2016 a group of seventeen artists and intermediaries from the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland visited Iran (Tehran and Isfahan) and Armenia (Yerevan and Gyumri), obtaining an overview of the most important contemporary actors – institutions, museums, curators, collectors and artists – in each city. The trip is organized in collaboration with the Belgium Flanders Arts Institute Visual Arts, the Danish Art Agency and the Swiss Pro Helvetia.

During the trip the participants contributed to a blog.

The Mondriaan Fund selected the participants from the Netherlands: James Beckett (visual artist), Nathanja van Dijk (director A Tale of a Tub), Zippora Elders (artistic director Fort Vijfhuizen), Jaap Guldemond (curator exhibitions EYE), Eelco van der Lingen (director Nest Den Haag) and Paulien Oltheten (visual artist). The Danish Arts Foundation selected Jacob Frabricius (director Kunsthal Aarhus) and Toke Lykkeberg (freelance curator/critic Kopenhagen), the Flanders Arts Institute Louise Osieka (director CIAP, Kunstverein for Contemporary Art Hasselt). Samuel Leuenberger (freelance curator a.o. SALTS) and Balthazar Lovay (artistic director Fri Art, Kunsthalle Fribourg) were selected by the Swiss Pro Helvetia.
