Art Cologne presents a site- and context specific installation of David Jablonowski
Art Cologne presents the monumental site- and context specific installation Hello Prediction / Data Mining by this years Focused Artist from The Netherlands: David Jablonowski. Jablonowski was selected on invitation of Art Cologne under the auspices of the Mondriaan Fund and in collaboration with the art committee of De Nederlandsche Bank. In his installation, Jablonowski (1982, lives and works in Amsterdam) is playing with the idea of the art fair as a market place. The installation reflects on the history of markets and exchange values. In reaction to the recent collapse of the financial market, there seems to be a renewed need for a market place that can literally be seen again, that is transparent and through its actual presence, can be understood and trusted. However, within the overload of digital information, such transparency is complicated.
Hello Prediction / Data Mining is financially supported by the Mondriaan Fund as a pilot of the new grant program for international contemporary art fairs presenting artists from the Netherlands in special projects in their side program. With this support we hope to increase the international awareness and appreciation of significant contemporary art from the Netherlands.
