Cobra Museum – Miró & CoBrA. The Joy of Experiment

Until January 31th 2016, the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen presents the exhibition Miró & CoBrA. The Joy of Experiment. This exhibition highlights the connection between Joan Joan Miró and the Cobra artists, something that has not been done before.

What unites Joan Miró and the Cobra artists is their experimental approach to art. Experimenting with materials, forms and methods was a source of knowledge and innovation for both the Spanish master and the post-war generation of Cobra artists. By creating links between the works of Miró and CoBrA, the exhibition reveals a shared playful and poetic attitude that lies at the heart of both Miró’s and the Cobra artists’ art.

The Mondriaan Fund contributed to this exhibition via a Project Grant for Museums and other Heritage Institutes (in Dutch: Projectinvestering Erfgoed- en Beeldende Kunstinstellingen).
