Frans Hals Museum – Hollandse Meesters from Budapest
From November 12th until February 13th 2017 the Frans Hals Museum presents the exhibition ‘Hollandse Meesters uit Boedapest’ with around 80 works from the collection of the Szépmuvésti Múzeum in Budapest, Hungary.
Because of the rebuilding of the Szémuvésti Múzeum the Frans Hals Museum was able to bring 55 paintings and 25 drawings to the Netherlands from i.a. Hals, Brueghel, Dusart, Van Ruysdael, Potter and Steen. The exhibition is themed: portraits, genre paintings, still lifes, variation and historic pieces with an emphasis on Haarlem as the center of the innovative 17th-century pictorial art.
Together with the exhibition a bilingual catalogue with contributions of curators Marrigje Rikken, Ildikó Ember and Julia Tátrai will appear.
The Mondriaan Fund granted the Project Grant for Art Platforms, Museums and other Heritage Institutes for the exhibition.
