Kochi-Muziris Biennale – Gabriel Lester, Praneet Soi, Katarina Zdjelar and Erik van Lieshout

From December 12th until March 29nd 2017 the Kochi-Muziris Biennial in Kochi, Kerala, India will take place. Four artists from the Netherlands take part in this third edition: Gabriel Lester, Praneet Soi, Katarina Zdjelar and Erik van Lieshout.

Praneet Soi received a commission for a new sculptural work made of palm fibers (coir). Gabriel Lester re-issues his work Where Spirits Dwell, a site-specific work that intentionally creates a conflict with the existing architecture. Katarina Zdjelar showed two videos: The Perfect Sound and Shoun. The Mondriaan Fund granted a Grant International Presentations to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale Foundation for presenting the work of these three artists. Erik van Lieshout received a Grant Project Investment Artists for the production of new work.

The Biennial, titled Forming in the pupil of an eye is the biggest art event in Southern-Asia and is seen as one of the best biennials of Asia. The Kochi-Muziris Biennial is curated by the prominent Indian artist Sudarshan Shetty, who participated in the visitors program from the Mondriaan Fund.
