Ksenia Galiaeva – Tique | art space
In Tique | art space Antwerpen, Ksenia Galiaeva’s solo exhibition Unreal Estate #2 is open to the public up until February 20th. In her project ‘Unreal Estate’ Galiaeva researches the manner in which memory can be influenced and guided, and which role this plays in perception. The artist describes her work as ‘autobiographical fiction’, a method which she uses in order to construct her own life story.
In 2015, Galiaeva was one of the residents staying in the MMCA (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art) Residency in Seoul, South-Korea, within the framework of the pilot projects of the Mondriaan Fund. The exhibition in Antwerpen presents the result of this work period.
With the pilot projects the Mondriaan Fund aims to stimulate and support projects which extend upon the regular activities of the Mondriaan Fund, but cannot be promoted by the Mondriaan Fund through a regular approach. These are projects which are developed in consultation with the art field. Pilot projects are temporarily established and have the potential to become structural at a later date (learning by doing).
The stay of Ksenia Galiaeva in the MMCA residency was financed by means of the Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken (Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
