The Mondriaan Fund is exhibiting work by 92 emerging artists

The 14th edition of Prospects has just opened. From 27 to 29 March, work by 92 emerging artists will be on display during the Art Rotterdam art fair. The Mondriaan Fund organises the exhibition annually to give emerging artists a further boost in terms of visibility. The exhibition has been curated by Johan Gustavsson and Daphne Verberg.

All participating artists received the Mondriaan Fund’s Artist Start grant in 2024. The works on display in the exhibition range from photography to installations, from video to painting, and from performance to sculpture. The themes of the works are also diverse.

Elise van Staveren, Pippilotta Yerna, and Bonnie Ogilvie reflect on the theme of grief. And Yara Jimmink, Sander Coers, and Frances Rompas delve into their ancestral histories. Jonathan Hielkema explores the borders of Europe, and as part of Loran van der Wier’s work, visitors can taste vegan cheese.

Eva Postema, Interim Director of the Mondriaan Fund, on this edition:

‘In this edition too, the artists address urgent and wide-ranging issues. Through critical reflections, alternative perspectives and, above all, inspiring art, they help us as visitors to broaden our horizons even further.’

The proximity of Art Rotterdam gives art professionals and collectors, but also a broad group of interested parties, the opportunity to become acquainted with the work of these promising artists. The exhibition is also an excellent opportunity to show what has been achieved in part thanks to a contribution from the Mondriaan Fund. An Artist Start contribution is intended for starting artists who have been working professionally for a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 4 years.
