Objections

Within what period do I need to submit my objection?

The period within which an applicant can object is 6 weeks after the day on which the decision was announced. Once this period has expired, it is no longer possible to submit an objection.

I have not yet received the further reasoning for the advice, but I am considering submitting an objection, what should I do?

If you have requested further reasoning for the advisory committee’s advice and have not yet received it, you must still submit a notice of objection within 6 weeks of the rejection letter, so that the objection period does not expire. You can do this by sending a short letter or email (stating your application number) to the Mondriaan Fund in which you indicate that you are considering submitting an objection (this is also known as a pro forma objection). After you have received further reasoning for the advice from us, the Mondriaan Fund will set a new deadline to give reason to the objection in writing.

I want to supplement, rewrite or further explain my application by means of an objection, is that possible?

No, the objection procedure is not intended to supplement, rewrite or further explain the application. Such information will not be taken into consideration when assessing your objection.

Can I send a publication of my work with my objection?

No. Because it is not possible to send a publication with the application, it is also not possible to send a publication with the notice of objection. The objection procedure is not intended to supplement the application.

After submitting my application, new developments have occurred in my professional practice, for example in terms of visibility (such as exhibitions), will this information be taken into account when assessing the objection?

Information from after the application date cannot be included in the objection procedure. Such information will not be taken into consideration when assessing the objection.

I would like to inform the Mondriaan Fund through an objection (with letters of recommendation) that other experts are positive about my work or plans. Will this information be taken into account when assessing the objection?

No. The Mondriaan Fund is guided by its own experts when assessing applications. Third-party valuation generally takes place in a different context than an assessment of an application based on the Mondriaan Fund regulations. In addition, it is quite possible that experts have different opinions.
