From 1 January 2026, we welcome 16 new advisors to our pool of advisors. They bring additional expertise in the fields of heritage, visual arts, diversity & inclusion, as well as knowledge of various regions. In the selection process, the overall composition of advisory committees plays the most important role. We look for the right combination of experts so that diverse forms of expertise and backgrounds are represented in our committees.
The new advisors are: Bas van den Hurk, Cleo de Brabander, Cynthia Jordens, Eugenie Boon, Gilleam Trapenberg, Hanna Klarenbeek, Harriet Mbonjani, Jos Taekema, Lisandro Suriel, Margo Groenewoud, Maurice van Es, Michiel Teeuw, Mirthe Berentsen, Robin Vermeulen, Semâ Bekirović and Ties van de Werff.
At the Mondriaan Fund, independent advisors assess applications in a careful, expert and impartial manner. These are specialists from the field—such as artists, curators, critics, art historians, museum professionals and others—who can accurately assess developments in visual arts and cultural heritage.
Advisors are invited to participate in committee meetings. We have several chairmen, each of whom leads dozens of meetings.
The list of advisors is an annually rotating pool of experts with diverse backgrounds and specialisms. In principle, an advisor is appointed for 2 years, with the possibility of extending this term for an additional 2 years. Each year, the pool is supplemented with new advisors, for which we issue an open call in July and August.
We would like to thank the advisors we will say goodbye to at the end of this year. They have fulfilled a valuable role for the visual arts and cultural heritage sector: Arjen Boerstra, Arnold Lubbers, Chantal Tjin, Daniella Britt, Ellen de Haan, Esther Polak, Iris Kensmil, Jonathan van Doornum, Katja Mater, Kevin van Braak, Lidwien van de Ven, Liesbeth Labeur, Lieven Hendriks, Marcel van den Berg, Maria Roosen, Mariska van den Berg, Nicolette Bartelink, Sharelly Emanuelson, Stefanie van Gemert and Urok Shirhan.
