From 1 January 2026, the team of chairmen for the advisory committees will be expanded with Heske ten Cate. Together with Julius Thissen, Roomyla Choenni, Maarten Doorman, Sandjai Bhulai, Youri Appelo, Rita Ouédraogo, Raul Balai, Thomas Bakker and Peter van der Es, they form the Mondriaan Fund’s team of chairmen. The 10 members are professionals from across the country and bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the meeting table. They chair several meetings a year in the field of visual arts and cultural heritage and ensure a uniform working method across all committees.

Heske ten Cate
Heske ten Cate is a curator, researcher, and director. Since February 2026, she has held positions including curator of contemporary art at the Amsterdam Museum. From 2017 to 2025, she was the director and manager of Nest, a contemporary art institution in The Hague known for its socially engaged and collaborative programs. Under her leadership, Nest realized more than seventy-five exhibitions on themes such as feminism, citizenship, counterculture, and healthcare. Prior to that, she was editor-in-chief of Mister Motley Fool for five years. As a (guest) curator, she initiated and co-created leading exhibitions and programs, including the recent Good Mom/Bad Mom (Centraal Museum). She has also collaborated with others on publications and podcasts, including Mothering Myths, Wat Niet is Maar Kan Zijn, Naakt op een Kleedje and Kunst is Lang.
