Several changes will soon be made to the Art Heritage Presentation grant. One significant change is that festivals, biennales, triennales and similar events will now be able to apply for a new grant: Art Heritage Festival. The revised Art Heritage Presentation grant will be published online on 4 August. Read more about the adjustments below.
The Art Heritage Presentation grant is intended for museums, art centres and venues, archives and other art and heritage initiatives focused on presenting cultural heritage and/or visual art.
The aim of this grant remains largely unchanged. Applications can be submitted for presentations that transcend the ordinary, engage the public in an appealing way, and are contextually relevant to contemporary visual art and/or cultural heritage in the Netherlands and/or the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.
The plan should clearly demonstrate that it concerns a non-standard presentation. Examples include a distinctive presentation featuring work by internationally renowned artists; an engaging exhibition that highlights new perspectives; a presentation developed in an exemplary manner through co-creation with the public; or a presentation with special loans and/or newly commissioned work within a compelling exhibition concept. Other exploratory, innovative or ambitious art or heritage presentations may likewise be eligible.
The contribution is determined per application and covers up to 40% of the eligible project costs.
From 4 August, the Art Heritage Presentation grant will be amended as follows:
- The revised grant distinguishes between institutions with a predominantly (supra-)regional profile and those with a predominantly national or international profile. The applicant selects which category is the most appropriate, and justifies this choice in the application. Each category has its own specific set of assessment criteria, reflecting the nature of the institution. This enables us to properly acknowledge the diversity of the field.
- In the project plan, applicants justify why the project is non-standard. Funding can only be awarded if the criterion regarding the exceptional nature of the presentation is assessed as at least satisfactory.
- The wording of the assessment criteria has been revised, along with the weighting of each criterion.
- The budget item ‘artist’s fee’ is eligible for funding under the Art Heritage Presentation grant. This means that if you have submitted an application for this grant, you cannot simultaneously apply for the Artist’s Fee grant for the same project.
- The project budget must meet fair pay requirements. This applies not only to the artist’s fee, but also to all other individuals listed in the budget for their work on the project.
- The activities for which funding is requested may not be aimed at generating profit or sales.
- Festivals, biennales, triennales and similar events are no longer eligible for the Art Heritage Presentation grant. They should instead apply for the new Art Heritage Festival grant.
Please note! You can submit an application for the current grant until Thursday 31 July at 16.00 (Dutch time zone) / 10.00 (Caribbean time zone). From Monday 4 August at around 12.00 (Dutch time zone) / 06.00 (Caribbean time zone), applications will open for the revised Art Heritage Presentation grant, using the new application form.
You can either submit the application before 31 July under the current Art Heritage Presentation grant, or start a new application via the Art Heritage Festival grant.
