Haeju Kim

Haeju Kim is a curator and writer based in Seoul. She is artistic director for the Busan Biennale 2022.

Between 2017 and 2021 she worked as deputy director at Art Sonje Center in Seoul. At Art Sonje Center, Haeju has curated exhibitions, including Dust, Clay, Stone(2020), Night Turns to Day (2020), The Island of the Colorblind(2019), Point Conter Point(2018) as well as solo exhibitions from artists such as Yeesookyung: Moonlight Crowns(2021), Jane Jin Kaisen: Community of Parting(2021)Koki Tanaka: Vulnerable Histories(A Road Movie)(2020), Hwayeon Nam: Mind Stream(2020), Donghee Koo, Delivery(2019), Lee Kit: Resonance of a Sad Smile(2019), and the exhibition and performance program that crosses over performance and various mediatic characteristics of visual arts, Moving/Image (Seoul Art Space Mullae 2016; Arko Art Center 2017; SeMA 2020). Haeju was a researcher at National Theater Company of Korea in 2011 and assistant curator at Nam June Paik Art Center in 2008. She participated in the École du Magasin – International Curator Training Program in Grenoble, France in 2006-2007.

Art Sonje Center is a private art museum intended as a space for art as a means of contemplating our lives in the contemporary era & sharing prospects and visions for a better way of life. Since opening in 1998, the museum has organized exhibitions, screenings, performances and various education programs to contribute to the advancement of contemporary art and the sharing of its language with the public.
