From 2011 to 2016, Shaw worked for Long Museum in Shanghai, engaged in the operation and management, as well as the curation and implementation of art exhibitions. In 2016, he joined He Art Museum as executive director, supervising the management and inauguration of the museum, working with architect Tadao Ando to oversee the architectural project, from budgeting control, and construction engineering, to space optimization.

Since He Art Museum opened in 2020, Shaw has continued to develop the strategic vision for the institution, research and collection, and curatorial programs. He curated or co-curated over twenty exhibitions at the museum including: From the Mundane World (2020), Beyond: Tadao Ando and Art (2021), Bernar Venet: Another Language for Painting (2021), Transformation: From Poetic to Realistic (2021), ON | OFF: Carousel of Progress (2022), Woman by the Window of Xu Beihong: A Conservation Exhibition (2022), Ni Youyu: Dome and Scale (2022), Off the Beaten Track: A Modern Chinese Collection Exhibition, Zhang Enli: Portrait (2023), Roni Horn: A dream dreamt in a dreaming world is not really a dream … but a dream not dreamt is (2023), Atmospheric Column by Olafur Eliasson, A 3rd Anniversary Special Project (2023), Tales of the South (2023) etc.
