Clarification of the budget for the Caribbean Art Heritage Open Call

We request that you include a general budget and financial plan with your application. Following the allocation of a grant, a specified budget and financial plan may be requested.

Note: In case of divergence between the language versions, the Dutch version shall prevail.

Note: This clarification of the budget is also available in Papiamentu.

Information on the general budget

VAT (btw/ob/obb/abb)

All amounts must be listed excluding VAT. The Mondriaan Fund grant is awarded excluding VAT, unless the applicant is not subject to VAT. If this applies to you, please include proof from the tax authorities that you are not subject to VAT. If your organisation is subject to VAT, the Mondriaan Fund will not pay the VAT. For this reason,  all amounts must be listed excluding VAT.

Costs

The Mondriaan Fund requests that you provide a summary of the variable project costs. You may not include regular expenses such as personnel, overheads and other permanent operational costs.

Potential expenses include:

  • If possible, specify the number of hours. Be aware that the budget may not include capitalised volunteers.

  • Installation costs

  • Equipment that is absolutely essential for the work to be produced
  • Depreciation (33% on an annual basis) or rental costs for specific equipment needed to perform the work
  • Salaries of third parties who will perform work as part of the project

We expect the institution submitting the application to pay the artist a realistic remuneration.

For example:

  • Costs for lectures, film screenings

For example:

  • Advertisements, banners, posters
  • Social media campaign
  • Remuneration of authors
  • Design and lithography
  • Photography / illustrations
  • Rights for photos / illustrations
  • Copy-editing and proofreading (internal and external)
  • Image editing (internal and external)
  • Translation costs
  • Royalties
  • Technical production (such as paper, printing, binding)
