‘Power up your art practice’ event for starting artists

Have you recently graduated as a visual artist, and would you like to discover the variety of career paths ahead of you? Do you want to better understand the position of your artistic practice within the field? And do you want to expand your professional network? Make sure to join our Power up your art practice event to boost your artistic career!

On Tuesday May 14 the Mondriaan Fund will host an event especially for starting artists (professionally active for about 0-5 years) at Pakhuis de Zwijger in Amsterdam. During this day recent graduates and experienced international visual artists, curators and art professionals are brought together to exchange ideas, experiences and knowledge.

The Power up your art practice event not only promises to give you new insights into your own artistic practice, but is also the perfect opportunity for strengthening your professional connections.

Power up your art practice

Date: 14 May 2024, 10 am – 6 pm (walk-in from 9.30 am)

What to expect?

We have invited a diverse group of international art professionals – artists, curators, researchers, museum professionals and more – to share their knowledge and experiences with you. The programme consists of keynotes – with none other than Renzo Martens and Rubiah Balsem – and talks in which our guests will give you an insight into various forms of artistic practices, such as art in relation to education, science and (health)care. Furthermore, there will be 1 on 1 sessions and Q&A’s where you can ask as many questions as you want – this is your moment.

Background

At the end of 2023, the Mondriaan Fund initiated the Power up-project. The project was intended for artists who graduated during the covid-19 epidemic and who have experienced adverse consequences due to the measures taken during this period. Presenting their work was difficult and networking opportunities were minimal. That is why the Mondriaan Fund offered a special programme to give their practice an extra boost.

During this final get-together on May 14, we bring all of them together and invite all other visual artists at the start of their career to join us.

We look forward to seeing you on May 14 at Pakhuis de Zwijger!

The Power up your art practice event is sold out. No tickets will be sold at the door.
