In the United Kingdom there is a great deal of interest in artists from the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. In recent years many of them have been invited to exhibit their work in the United Kingdom. To further stimulate this exchange, the Mondriaan Fund offers the Voucher Liverpool Biennial.
The voucher is intended to boost the international position of visual artists from the Netherlands and the Caribbean part of the Kingdom by encouraging their presence at important international events such as the Liverpool Biennial, and giving them the opportunity to develop their international network.
About Liverpool Biennial
Founded in 1998, Liverpool Biennial is the largest free contemporary visual arts festival in the UK. The biennial lasts over 3 months, includes many presentations by national and international artists and attracts around 150,000 visitors per edition.
Liverpool Biennial 2025 takes place from June 7 to September 14.
The biennial is woven into the city through the many exhibitions at partner locations, through commissions for art in public space, through residencies and through various long-term projects in collaboration with local communities. In this way, the biennial brings visual art to people and makes art part of their daily lives.
Marie-Anne McQuay has been appointed as guest curator for the 13th edition of the Liverpool Biennial. Marie-Anne McQuay has been Director of Arts & Heritage since 2022. Previously, she was Head of Program at Bluecoat, Liverpool for almost 8 years.
