Team
Our team of more than 70 dedicated colleagues takes care of every aspect of your grant application, reports the results of our funding and organises a varied range of activities.
Eelco van der Lingen
executive directorSince 1 March 2019 Eelco van der Lingen is the executive director of the Mondriaan Fund. He is responsible for general management, strategic policy development, and external contacts of the Mondriaan Fund. As advisor and chairman of advisory committees, he had already become acquainted with the fund. Until his appointment, he worked as curator of modern and contemporary art at the Fries Museum in Leeuwarden. From 2007 to 2017 he was director and curator of presentation institute Nest in The Hague, which he also founded. As guest curator he organized exhibitions at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, Museum Kranenburgh in Bergen and TENT in Rotterdam. In addition, he was advisor for various funds, published articles, and was a guest lecturer and examiner at a number of art academies.
Tibisay Sankatsing Nava
teamlead cultural heritageAs a teamlead cultural heritage, Tibisay coordinates the implementation of the heritage grants at the Fund, including the Art Heritage Presentation, Heritage Innovation, and Incidental Purchases grants. Previously, Tibisay conducted research on co-creation in heritage at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and was involved in the Caribbean program of NWO. Additionally, she served as a committee member at the Fund for Cultural Participation and contributed to a major archaeological research project.
Veysel Yuce
teamlead visual arts internationalAs a teamlead visual arts international, Veysel Yuce is involved in the grants International Art Presentation, Residencies, International Art Fair., Voucher International and Voucher Manifestaties He is also the contact person for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. For 10 years he worked at DutchCulture, where he was involved in cultural exchange with Turkey, India, Indonesia and promoting cultural cooperation around shared heritage. He previously worked at Kickstart Cultuurfonds and the Province of Noord-Holland as Policy Advisor Culture and Heritage.
Esther Schussler
communications advisorEsther is a communications advisor at the Mondriaan Fund.
Regional agents
The Mondriaan Fund is assisted by 5 regional agents. Drawing on their extensive networks, these agents reach out to potential new applicants, art commissioners and advisors in the region. They also highlight new initiatives, target groups and map the latest regional developments in the field of the visual arts and cultural heritage.
Boris Brink
regional agent NorthBoris Brink is a regional agent for the northern Netherlands and represents the provinces of Drenthe, Groningen, Friesland and Northern Flevoland as well as the Wadden Islands.
Erna aan de Stegge
regional agent EastErna aan de Stegge is a regional agent for the eastern Netherlands and represents the Dutch provinces Overijssel and Gelderland.
Farah Wilbers
regional agent SoutheastFarah Wilbers is a regional agent for South-East Netherlands and represents the regions of East Brabant and Limburg.
Rebecca Nelemans
regional agent SouthwestRebecca Nelemans is a regional broker for the Southwest Netherlands and represents the regions of West Brabant, Zeeland and the south of South Holland.
Chairmen & advisors
Independent advisors ensure that every application is meticulously, professionally and objectively assessed. Our advisors are experts from the field, such as artists, exhibition makers, critics, art historians and museum representatives. Ten permanent chairmen see to it that the meetings run smoothly.
Christian Braak
chairmanChristian Braak is director of the stichting ERM (Dutch foundation for a recognized restoration standard in the preservation and restoration of historic buildings and sites). Braak is also active for his consultancy firm BRAAKLAND. He focuses on interim management, strategic advice and moderator/chairmanship in spatial planning, cultural heritage and the arts sector. Christian is also a member of the supervisory board of the Jos van Amsterdam Fund (housed at the Grafisch Atelier Alkmaar).
Peter van der Es
chairmanPeter van der Es has a background as a visual artist and curator. He is co-founder and director at Unfair Amsterdam, a biennale, art fair and curating platform through which he sets up various projects with visual artists and institutions. In addition, he is secretary on the board of online art magazine Mister Motley and is active as an advisor to other (cultural) institutions, with a focus on talent development, entrepreneurship and innovation.
Raul Balai
chairmanRaul Balai is beeldend kunstenaar- curator. Raul werkte onder ander voor The Black Archives, het Rembrandt Huis, het Rijksmuseum Amsterdam en CBK Amsterdam Zuidoost. Op dit moment is werk van de kunstenaar te zien op Documenta fifteen in Kassel (Duitsland) en Façade 2022 in Middelburg. Tevens is Raul lid van de Raad van Toezicht van danstheatergezelschap Don’t Hit Mama.
Rita Ouédraogo
chairmanRita Ouédraogo is a curator, researcher, moderator and writer with a background in cultural anthropology. Rita is currently curator of the new Buro Stedelijk, writes for Mister Motley, among others. She is involved in various projects as program maker and curator including making museum collections accessible. Rita's work is invluenced by an interest in the African diaspora, the decolonization of organizations, institutional racism, pop culture and social issues.
Supervisory board
Our supervisory board is tasked with supervising the policy of the board and the general course of affairs at the fund. The members support the board with advice.
