His books include Photography and Cinema; The Cinematic; A Handful of Dust; The Open Road: photography and the American Road Trip; Walker Evans: the magazine work;  Jeff Wall: Picture for Women; and  Art and Photography. His recent curatorial projects include The Still Point of the Turning World , between film and photography, presented last year at FoMu, Antwerp.
