Elfi Turpin has been Director of Frac Nouvelle-Aquitaine MÉCA, Bordeaux, France since September 2024. For nearly ten years, she developed an independent curatorial practice before being appointed Director of the Centre Rhénan d’Art Contemporain (CRAC Alsace) in Altkirch in 2013. At CRAC Alsace, she curated a number of widely acclaimed exhibitions, including solo exhibitions by Beatriz Santiago Muñoz (2023), Liv Schulman (2021), Jarbas Lopes (2017), Daniel Steegmann Mangrané (2014), and Elisabetta Benassi (2013), as well as group exhibitions such as Le couteau sans lame et dépourvu de manche; Le jour des esprits est notre nuit, co-curated with Catalina Lozano in 2019; and Trust in Fiction (2016). In 2021–2022, together with Filipa Oliveira, she co-curated the Biennale of Contemporary Art of Coimbra, Portugal. From 2021 to 2023, Elfi Turpin co-chaired the national network of contemporary art centers (DCA) in France and, in 2022, led the first European Assembly of Contemporary Art Centers, advocating for gender equality and diversity.
