Trained at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, he has built a career that weaves together the built environment with visual culture and socially rooted creative processes. As Chief Coordinator of Shelter Promotion Council (India), Sayantan has led landmark public art festivals including Blooming Sikkim, the Hornbill Public Art Festival in Nagaland, and No Man’s Land along the India–Bangladesh border.

He currently guides the organization’s work on designing climate-resilient storm shelters in the Sundarbans. His scenography and museum design projects—developed for cultural institutions across India and internationally—demonstrate a deep sensitivity to site, material, history, and narrative form. His curatorial work includes multiple editions of the Preview Show of Durga Puja Art, Material as Metaphor at NGMA Kolkata, Dialogues Across Time at the Indian Museum, and several collaborations with international institutes. As part of the Layout Artist Collective, his site-specific interventions have been exhibited at the Kochi Biennale, KNMA, Colombo Biennale, and venues in Europe. An India Foundation for the Arts grantee, he is also the author of Cultural Moorings: Notes on Naga Art and a regular speaker on contemporary art, design, and cultural ecologies.
