On the 4th of February the Literatuurmuseum (Literary Museum) was launched, a new online literary platform containing stories about Dutch literary history. The platform is comprised of the collection of the Nederlands Letterkundig Museum and displays the scientific expertise of Het Huygens Instituut voor Nederlandse Geschiedenis which carried out an investigation into the collection and placed it in context.

The Literatuurmuseum is a growing museum; stories are added to it regularly. It also displays new articles on a weekly basis, wherein current writers tell stories about the museum’s collection. In the future the website will offer researchers the opportunity to consult its digitalized archive.

The foundation Nederlands Letterkundig Museum en Documentatiecentrum considers it her mission to create visibility for the power of literature and the richness of Dutch literary heritage. The Huygens ING is an institute of the Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences) with regards to the researching and unlocking of historical and literary texts and sources. The structural cooperation between the institutions holds to goal of increasing the accesbility of literature and literary heritage. Both institutions also want to share their expertise with regards to technology, public outreach and educational applications.

The Mondriaan Fund supported this cooperation with Support for Museum Collaborations.
